Step 1: Yarn over ten times (wrapping the yarn around the hook many times like this creates the bullion’s body). Insert the hook into the indicated stitch.

Step 2: Yarn over and pull the hook back through the stitch.

Step 3: Yarn over and pull the hook through all twelve loops on the hook.

Finished Bullion Stitch.

Bullion stitches produce beautiful fabric but are labor intensive, so though they may be worked side by side in a row or in the round, you mostly encounter them worked into fabric as an accent among other types of stitches.

CROCODILE STITCH

The crocodile stitch looks more difficult than it is, and that is the fun in making it. If you can work a double crochet, you’ve got the crocodile stitch.

The crocodile stitch is worked over two rows. For the first row, you make double crochet V-stitches (see V-Stitch); for the second row—the crocodile stitch row—you work a series of double crochets around the posts of both sides of the V-stitches (see Post Stitches).
